Engagement rate = (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100. Benchmarks per platform, as of 2025. Figures are guide values – smaller profiles usually reach higher rates.
What is a good engagement rate?
The engagement rate shows how many people react to your posts relative to your follower count. On Instagram, roughly 1–3 % is solid and above 6 % is excellent; on TikTok the values are much higher, on YouTube lower. Smaller profiles almost always reach higher rates than large ones. What matters is the comparison within your platform and niche, not an absolute number.
How do I calculate my engagement rate?
Add the average likes and comments of a post, divide the sum by your follower count and multiply by 100. The calculator above does exactly this automatically.
Is a high engagement rate more important than many followers?
For reach and collaborations, interaction often counts more than the raw follower number. A smaller, active audience is usually more valuable to brands than many passive followers.
Can I improve my engagement rate?
Yes – with relevant content, clear calls to action, suitable formats and consistency. Visible likes on new posts can add a stronger start, but they don't replace good content.
